MMA News 2015: Chael Sonnen Inks Deal to be Pro-Wrestling Analyst

It was only a matter of time before Chael Sonnen found another gig by talking in front of the camera, and Global Force Wrestling recently inked the former UFC middleweight title contender to a deal.

As reported by Yahoo Sports, the La Vegas-based professional wrestling company owned by former WWE superstar Jeff Jarrett has hired Sonnen to a be an "expert analyst." Global Force Wrestling will be having their first TV taping on July 24.

Despite not having won a UFC title, Sonnen became the organization's main draws with his outspoken nature, and outlandish gift of gab. Before Conor McGregor became the king of smack talking in the UFC, Dana White and company got their money's worth on Sonnen before he even stepped inside the Octagon. His verbal barbs directed toward former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva led to a couple of the most highly anticipated UFC bouts.

While Sonnen is still serving the suspension he got from testing positive for banned substances, he is working as an analyst for ESPN, and will continue to do so as he takes on the Global Force Wrestling offer.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE announcer Jim Ross is being rumored to be paired with the former MMA fighter when he makes his pro-wrestling announcing debut. Ross and Sonnen worked together to announce an MMA event last year. As of this writing, though, it is said that Ross and Global Force Wrestling have yet to reach an agreement.

Sonnen failed a drug test under the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which led to a two-year suspension from MMA, and his firing from both the UFC, and his job as an analyst for Fox Sports. His last fight in the UFC was back in November 2013, when he lost via TKO to Rashad Evans.
