The Golden Gophers (8-4) are trying to escape a probable two game losing streak when they meet the Tigers in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl.

"We've gotten rewarded going to the Citrus Bowl, and none of us could be more excited about this opportunity. We all want to play in January," said Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill to reporters.

"This is another step forward in the program."

Previously, Minnesota lost to their Big Ten opponents the Wisconsin Badgers by a final score of 34-24, after Golden Gophers QB Mitch Leidner went 5-18 for only 95 yards on November 29.

Meanwhile, the Tigers (10-3) are looking to avoid a possible two game losing streak when they face the Golden Gophers on New Year's Day.

"Certainly, there's things we have to do to improve ... but I'm so very proud of my players, coaches and this football program. This is a great opportunity," said Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel to reporters.

"We got a chance to finish strong and we'll be playing a very good football team."

The Tigers recently lost the Alabama Crimson Tide by a final score of 42-13, after QB Maty Mauk went 16-34 for 272 yards, which was highlighted by a touchdown and an interception on December 6.

"Once we got the game pretty close,'' said Missouri WR Jimmie Hunt to reporters.

"They did what they needed to do to finish it.''
