'Mission Impossible 6' Rumors, News: Tom Cruise Confirms Sixth Installment of Movie Franchise Already in Works [VIDEO]
Unlike in the case of any other major movie franchise, the interval between two 'Mission Impossible' films has been longer. However, it seems that this will change soon because of Tom Cruise, who has already disclosed that he has already started working on the sixth installment of 'Mission Impossible' franchise, even before the release of the fifth film 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation' this week.
According to Latin Post, on Tuesday, the 53-year-old actor was a guest at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to promote 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.'
Meanwhile Variety reports that Cruise has already confirmed that he is on-board the sixth installment of the 'Mission Impossible' movie franchise and that development has already commenced. Cruise told Stewart, "We're starting to work on it now," adding, "We'll probably start shooting it next summer."
The remarks made by the actor possibly hints that the producers are already looking towards the future of the franchise, irrespective of how the fifth installment of the franchise performs when it hits theaters this week.
According to reports, provided all goes well, and the producers are able to finalize the cast, director as well as the script soon, it is likely that the next 'Mission Impossible' movie will be released earlier than expected.
It is worth mentioning here that the first 'Mission Impossible' movie was released in 1996 and its sequel came out four years after. In fact, the wait for the third film of the franchise was the longest since it took six years before 'Mission Impossible III' was released.
The fourth film, 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol' was released five years following the third, while the upcoming 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation' took another four years.
Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote the script and also directed 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation,' is also likely to be at the helm of the sixth movie of the franchise. According to reports, McQuarrie is fast becoming a favorite of Cruise.
Meanwhile, Slash Film reported that Cruise, who portrays Ethan Hunt in the movie series, has also suggested McQuarrie to make a sequel to one of his earlier movies, 'Edge of Tomorrow.' Since Cruise is showing confidence in how the director deals with his projects, it is highly likely that McQuarrie will be a good candidate for the next sequel.
While J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk were among the producers of 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation,' as of now there is no word as to whether Abrams and Burk will also produce the sixth movie as well.
Paramount Pictures, which has released all the five movies in the 'Mission Impossible' series, is yet to comment on the upcoming sixth film.
'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation' is slated for release in 40 countries this week.
