'Mission: Impossible 5' Spoilers, News: 'Rogue Nation' Subtitle, Poster, Photos, & Trailer Hint Movie Plot
A lot of mystery swirled around the fifth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise until Monday, March 23. During the NCAA basketball tournament, an official trailer was released amidst the advertisements. Also the official subtitle was revealed, Rogue Nation, and a promotional poster and photos were released.
While the new trailer did not reveal too much about the film's plot, there is somewhat of a baseline. What it did show is that, Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise, finds out that the Syndicate is real in the movie. Syndicate is an organization that is trained just like IMF, only they do not do their work in the name of justice. Essentially, they are an anti-IMF.
The trailer promised a lot of action sequences including hand-to-hand combat with enemies, motorcycle chases, and hanging on to the outside of a plane for dear life.
The subtitle, Rogue Nation, had some rough patches with Disney Studios, as they announced earlier this month that they would be releasing a spin off film of their Star Wars franchise titled Rogue One. Disney and Paramount worked out a deal however since the latter announced their title in January while Disney didn't announce theirs until a shareholder meeting on March 12, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Also, Rogue Nation was not set to release in theaters until the holiday season. Now that the newest Star Wars film will be released on December 18, Paramount decided to up the theatrical release of Rogue Nation clear to July 31 of this year.
According to Slash Film, those who preorder their tickets between March 24 and March 27 will get HD downloads for any of the previous four Mission: Impossible films.
Along with Cruise, the film will star Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Jeremy Renner as William Brandt, Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell and newcomers Alec Baldwin and Rebecca Ferguson as unknown characters.
