‘Minority Report’ Spoilers, News: New Show is a Sequel to Tom Cruise Starrer, will Focus on Precogs
'Minority Report,' an upcoming American science-fiction crime drama television series on Fox TV, is based on the 1956 short story "The Minority Report" by Philip K Dick and the 2002 movie of the same title.
According to IB Times, the new television drama series will serve as a sequel to the Tom Cruise starrer and the events in it will take place 15 years following the events in the movie. Steven Spielberg will serve as the executive producer of 'Minority Report.' Some reports claim that the story of the upcoming television series will revolve around a precog named Dash (Stark Sands), who possesses the inimitable ability to foresee a crime before it happens.
The series will be set in Washington DC, where the residents' life changes considerably after the dismantling of a pre-crime unit. Despite being a sequel to the movie, the tone of the upcoming series is warmer as well as inviting.
Latest reports say that the series stars Megan Good in the role of Detective Lara Vega, a cop who helps Dash prevent crimes before they take place and is also prepared to break the rules if required. Wilmer Valderama will portray the character of Lieutenant Will Blake, a cop who always follows the rules and is a partner of Vega. Nick Zano will play the role of Arthur, the twin brother of Dash and Agatha, portrayed by Laura Regan. Agatha and Arthur are also precogs like Dash.
For the most part, 'Minority Report' will emphasize on the life of precogs and their supposed humanity. As Dash grew up without much company, he will find it hard to behave like a normal human being in the society and will try to adjust to the world all the time.
This aside, there are plenty of new, exciting and pioneering technologies on the show that were developed by Spielberg himself. The actors have indicated that the audience may also get to see some romance between Blake and Vega.
Some familiar faces from the movie, like Wally (Daniel London), may also make an appearance on the show. Even Tom Cruise may appear in the show.
'Minority Report' premieres on Fox at 9 pm on Sept. 21.
