'Minecraft: Wii U Edition' Official Release Date Announcement: Six Add-on Packs, New Themes

It has already been several weeks since Nintendo officially announced that "Minecraft: Wii U Edition" will get a release date on the popular video game console Nintendo Wii U.

According to Mojang developer Jeb Bergensten, the new version will have several new contents and features. This is great news for Minecraft and Wii U fans. The news came just in time for the Holiday season.

According to the official report, the game will have six add-on packs. The new packs are the following: two Battle & Beast skin packs; Natural, City and Fantasy texture packs; and Festive mash-up pack. An additional 16 packs will be made available following the "Minecraft: Wii U Edition" release date.

However, the add-on packs are optional and need to be purchased online. The additional packs will include themed skin packs featuring The Simpsons, Star Wars and Doctor Who.

Fans can expect even more interesting add-ons in the near future, as Nintendo Wii U games become more sophisticated and challenging.

Days before the official announcement, fans and video game journalists were already expecting the release based on the PEGI ratings. The block-based builder game for Nintendo Wii U was finally made available on its December 17 release date.

However, the game is only available as a digital download from eShop. It is listed as a purchasable title on the website, which means that there is no need to worry about gift-wrapping it if you intend to give it as a Christmas gift.

"Minecraft: Wii U Edition" is a bit more expensive compared to the other versions for other game consoles. It can be purchased for $29.99. This is about $10 more compared to the Xbox One and PS4 versions.
