Every Minecraft player has come to know and love Steve, who is the game's default character. He is the only option that players have for a character besides user created ones or the downloadable content skin packs.

Mojang is now introducing Alex, a new female player character with red hair and a ponytail on all platforms.

In other Minecraft developments, The Simpsons skins, which were preciously exclusive to X-box are now coming to PlayStation.

The shows rights holders and Microsoft worked together to bring the Simpsons and other characters into the game with a downloadable content which users would have to pay for, to Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.

This will also be available on Wednesday, but it will not be free.

Characters that will be featured besides the core members of the Simpson family include Principal Seymour Skinner, Groundskeeper Willie, Dewey Largo and many more. There are more achievements coming to Xbox 360, which had less than the Xbox one version of the game.

Mojang is adding 30 new achievements which are coming to Xbox 360 alone.

The update will also feature new music for the Xbox 360 version of the game which will bring more of C418's tunes to the system.
