Produced by 2Player Productions, the funding of 'Minecraft: The Story of Mojang' depended on a Kickstarter campaign. First released in 2012, the documentary film narrates the story of 'Minecraft' transforming from a game with inferior quality graphics to an immensely popular game, which was acquired by Microsoft for a whopping $2.5 billion in September 2014.
Even today, 'Minecraft' continues to be a popular game attracting new as well as established fans. Keeping this as well as the fact that 'Minecraft' is a growing game in view, Fusion network is airing the documentary and also creating its own content related to the game.
After Microsoft acquired the "Minecraft" franchise, the popular game is being made into a movie. In addtion, Microsoft will also host a 'Minecraft' convention, which is similar to ComicCon, called MineCon this summer. Recently, the game also added 'The Simpsons' content to it. In February 2015, the PC version of the game recorded as many as one million people playing the game simultaneously.
Markus "Notch" Persson is the original creator of 'Minecraft.' According to Gamespot, he has now left Mojang and bought a $70 million mansion in Beverly Hills, outbidding celebrities like Beyonce and Jay-Z.
Talking about selling 'Minecraft' to Microsoft recently, Persson said that at times he feels like a "sellout" for selling it to Microsoft.
The TV show 'Talking Minecraft' will continue with the conversation on the game. The show aims to provide details regarding the impact and influence of 'Minecraft' on the gaming world.
