'Minecraft' 1.10 Patch News: ‘The Love and Hugs Update’ - an April Fools Day Prank

Minecraft released a new 1.10 patch for their players, called 'The Love and Hugs Update', which seems to implement a more endearing and loving atmosphere.

The team behind the brick by brick game, Mojang, released their new patch on April 1 hoping to create a more peaceful atmosphere in Minecraft since players are used to game brutality. The team has changed many things including rewards for not hurting but helping, the Love meter and calling survival mode as 'Existence'. Monsters are now named as Inhabitants with zombies eager to just cuddle with players and spread goodness.

Humor has gotten to the creators as they have also changed Lava into liquid cheese and TNT's into a love bomb.

According to Mojang's Dinnerbone they have known that they have players of all ages, up to their '90s, and are held responsible for creating a feel good game that makes a difference in the world.

"We've thought long and hard about this, but we finally feel happy to announce that we are now changing the general direction of the game Minecraft," He said, "Starting from the next update we will be focusing on the things that make life worth living, promoting relationships with the environment and its inhabitants."

Minecraft, even with all the pixelated graphics, is not entirely just for creating. Many players find the game filled with suspense and action especially in "combat" and "survival" modes which they have removed and modified, respectively. Combat ammunition has also been modified to do some "cupid" functions when players shoot at things and they fall in love with the first thing they see.

Despite all that exciting game upgrade, the blog was recently updated announcing that the patch actually is just an April Fool's joke.
