Mike Tyson New Biopic News: Jamie Foxx to Play Boxer in Upcoming Martin Scorsese Film
Back in August there were whispers about actor Jamie Foxx being attached to a Mike Tyson Biopic project, but for one reason or another it didn't immediately take off. Recent news from the actor would know lead us to believe that it is currently being picked back up and being directed by credited filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
Foxx made the announcement on an interview with Power 105's The Breakfast Club. He states:
"I just went in with Paramount with Mike Tyson. So I'm going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I'm on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time. And Martin Scorsese at the helm. This will be the first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull."
He didn't get too much into what the film will detail, but there is a big question if the movie will highlight some of Tyson's more darker and less celebrated moments of his life. It sounds like the retired champion boxer will be largely involved in the project, so it will be interesting to see how much he decides to expose.
Foxx continues, "[It's] the story of the guy who at 18 years old had $60 million in his pocket and everybody's trying to get and now the grown guy who sits back and reflects on the whole thing, like, the money was the downfall."
There is currently no release date for the biopic.
