'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' News & Update: Rangers Face Their Biggest Nemesis Yet?

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" is BOOM Studios' best-selling comics this 2017 thanks to its creative writers Kyle Higgins and Hendry Prasetya. This week, the writers are giving the fan-favorite Rangers their most challenging test just yet.

Back in October, Higgins explained that the book will have a more episodic approach and that Rita's big plan was going to be really dreadful.

"Rita's plan in our series, again, I'm not going to get into details, but it's a big one and it's something that builds," he said.

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers # 6" is set back to Tommy's first few weeks as the team's Green Ranger, when he thought he was free of Rita Repulsa when Rita actually had other plans. The Rangers may have taken down their latest adversary, but their growing doubt towards Tommy has taken its toll on their dynamic. Their worst fears will come true in "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers # 6," when the Black Dragon emerges in the Command Center while their mentor, Zordon, is unfortunately down. It looks like they are facing their biggest challenge yet in the upcoming issue.

The preview for # 6 shows that the Power Rangers will realize that their powers are nothing compared to that of their newest nemesis. More bad news is also ahead of Tommy, whose mother is now in search of him.

"The Rangers must face a seemingly all-powerful threat entirely on their own without the guidance of Zordon. As the fate of the world hangs in the balance, Jason must lead the Rangers through these darkest of times," reads the description of the latest issue.

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers # 6" is set for release on August 31.
