Microsoft Windows 10 News: Latest Operating System to Feature on Lumia Smartphones

Good news awaits all tech lovers and Microsoft supporters, as May 2015 will see the release of the Windows 10 operating system for smartphones.

The Windows 10 platform was unveiled in September 2014 with confirmation that the following three handsets will receive the OS update: Lumia 435, Lumia 735 (aka the 'selfie-happy' device), and the gem of the family - the Lumia 930.

Ifi Majid, Director of Product Marketing for Microsoft Mobile Devices noted that the company is expecting to unveil Windows 10's "What" and "How" on a range of Lumias, entry and mid, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, from the March 2nd to March 5th, 2015

The company commented that the Lumia smartphone's upgrade from Windows 8 is destined to be a great joy for consumers - taking into account the general 'mishap' of no 8. Fantastic news though for the Window Phone 8.1 users is that the complete OS and other updates will be free!

According to Microsoft's Joe Belifiore, the feature will also see Windows 10 supporting the Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) audio format on future builds.

According to NDTV, Microsoft's description of their session at the upcoming Game Developers Conference (GDC) notes that the redesign of Windows 10 smartphones will be bring octa-core processors and powerful graphics close to desktop-level in future Windows 10 smartphones and tablets!

Apart from the above mentioned variety of different apps available a definite key one is Microsoft Office. Yes, copies of Office apps will be included for free as well! Outlook will be supported by touch-friendly controls. There's even talk about a whole new photo app, and built-in Maps, People, Messaging, Music and Video apps will be cloud-based.
