Microsoft Windows 10 Features News: New Operating System Unveiled - Cortana, Spartan, & More

Microsoft's Windows 10 promised to be a game-changer even before the new Operating System was demonstrated. At the presentation on Wednesday, Microsoft made good on its word, introducing an impressive number of features that catered to almost every type of user.

Late last year, the Redmond firm had given the first look into Windows 10 when it revealed some of the features to a crowd of enterprise developers. The Microsoft OS debut gives a deeper, more detailed reveal of Microsoft's vision.

The media event began with Microsoft covering the known and documented features that have been tagged by Windows insiders. After an hour of old news, the tech company began to introduce the new side to Windows 10 - they did not disappoint.

First, Windows presented Cortana, a digital assistant that was integrated into Spartan, the revamped Internet Explorer. Cortana is a direct rival to Siri, designed to be aware of desktop environments and evolve according to a user's platform. Microsoft leaders introduced Cortana as a smarter, evolving personal digital assistant, and not just a voice-activated search tool.Spartan will include a reading mode, a notation feature, and of course, the well-loved Cortana.

Next, Windows brought up Continuum, a feature that automatically aligns the Windows 10 interface depending on whether the screen is being used as a tablet or a laptop. Continuum is developed to attract more users.

Windows will also provide a streaming platform for Xbox gamers. Users can play games from their Xbox console on any device, including their mobile devices.

The presentation concluded with a brief look at technologies to come, including 3D computing and holograms.
