Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Vs Apple iPad Pro Price, Specs Comparison: Which Tablet Is Better?

Microsoft and Apple have been at loggerheads for over three decades now, so it makes sense for people to pit the Surface Pro 4 against the Apple iPad Pro.

But which device is better?

Weight

In terms of weight, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is heavier at 786g compared to the Apple iPad Pro at 713g. The Windows 10-powered device is also thicker by 1.5mm. However, what it loses in weight, the Surface Pro makes up in terms of the full-size USB 3 slot and the mini-display port.

Battery Life

This is where Microsoft Surface Pro 4 pales in comparison to the Apple iPad Pro. Powered by Intel Core M3, i5 or i7 and RAM of 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB, the Windows device really pack a punch.

However, according to Jay McGregor, contributor of Forbes, the battery life for the Surface Pro 4 only lasts about 3.5 hours, which could possibly be due to a bug.

"The iPad Pro isn't shy in the performance ranks either with its new A9X processor (1.8 times faster than the iPad Air 2), 4GB of RAM and a battery life at around 9 hours- which actually lasts as long as Apple claims," he wrote.

Display

There's a slight difference in the display between the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and 12.3-inch Surface Pro 4. Whereas the Microsoft device features 2736x1824 with 267 PPI and an aspect ratio of 3:2, the Apple unit boasts of a 2732x2048 with 264 PPI and aspect ratio of 4:3.

Price

This one goes to the Apple iPad Pro which retails starting at $799, compared to Microsoft Surface Pro 4 which retails starting at $899, although it already includes the Surface Pen unlike the rival product, which doesn't come with the standard Apple Pencil.

However, it must be remembered that the comparison might be unfair to both devices. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is meant to run as a desktop OS while the Apple iPad 4 was designed using a similar platform as a mobile phone.
