Microsoft Surface Phone News, Rumors: Makeover Makes Device Unrecognizable?

More leaked images have surfaced regarding the Microsoft Surface Phone, and it seems the news and rumors have not really predicted this kind of design alteration that makes the device entirely different from its predecessor.

According to the report, what's recognizable in the new Microsoft Surface Phone will feature are the USB-C port and the audio jack. Meanwhile, the 5.7 screen will have true 2K display with what the rumors are calling as "landscape screen support," although there are no details yet to help the public understand what exactly that means.

The main snapper, meanwhile, will have 20 MP using Carl Zeiss lens. As to the other specs, the device will reportedly be powered by a Snapdragon 830 processor, probably a Windows 10 Red Stone 2 OS, 4 GB of RAM, 10nm microprocessor chip and Intel Kaby Lake.

The rumored release date for the Microsoft Surface Phone was in September this year, but it seems that won't happen.

Kevin Gallo, Windows corporate VP, told The Register, that they have not abandoned the Windows Surface phone, which is good news.

"There's really no change in what our direction or strategy is with respect to releasing the Windows Phone software," he said.

However, in terms of development, the company is following the success of its Windows desktop, which means that they will trailblaze "high end and category innovation like we've done with Surface, and OEMs will go and build the breadth of the catalog."
