Microsoft Lumia 940, 940 XL Specs Leaked: Smartphones to Feature Iris Scanners, Aluminum Frames

Latest reports claim that Microsoft has been working simultaneously on two Lumia flagship smartphones - code-named Talkman and Cityman, which are expected to be released sometime later in 2015. Both the upcoming smartphones are expected to be premium handsets and run on Windows 10 for Mobile OS.

According to IB Times, latest reports also claim that Talkman (which is likely to be named Lumia 940) and Cityman (also called the Lumia 940 XL) will come with many sophisticated features. Reports in Phone Arena, via WinFuture and DrWindows, state that the Talkman is relatively smaller compared to the Cityman will both feature aluminum frames. The rear side of the handsets will be made of polycarbonate or plastic material. Moreover, it is expected that both the handsets will follow the design of the popular Microsoft Lumia 830 smartphone.

In fact, both the Lumia 940 and 940 XL would be the first premium smartphones that will run on Windows 10 and are expected to come with a USB Type-C connector, which, according to reports, is mandatory in these handsets owing to the Continuum feature, which forms a part of Windows 10 for Mobile. The reports also state that the upcoming handsets will also boast wireless charging capabilities, apart from an iris scanner.

As regards to the configurations, the Talkman or Lumia 940 will supposedly feature a 5.2-inch display and 1,440 x 2,560 pixels (QHD) screen resolution. Inside, the handset will be powered by a hexa-core processor along with a Qualcomm chipset and will be supported by 3 GB of RAM. The smartphone will come equipped with 32 GB of built-in internal memory that can be expanded via microSD card. The other features of Lumia Talkman include an impressive 20 MP main camera, a moderate 5 MP front-facing snapper as well as a 3,000 mAh battery unit.

On the other handm the Cityman or Lumia 940 XL is expected to sport a 5.7-inch display and QHD resolution. In addition, the Lumia 940 XL is likely to include an octa-core processor, 32 GB of expandable storage, a 20 MP main camera, a 5 MP front-facing selfie camera for selfies and a 3,300 mAh battery unit.
