Microsoft Authenticator News: New App Is Now Available In Mobile Stores
The Microsoft Authenticator for Android and iOS devices can now be downloaded in the App store, the latest news reports revealed.
PCWorld said that Microsoft just made two-factor authentication much simpler with the launch of the new app.
Instead of having to enter your code, for example , you can just tap on the notification to allow login. Also, those with smart watches can use their wearables to authenticate apps. Don't let the simplicity fool you, however, as Microsoft guaranteed the highest level of security under the new authentication process.
But one of the more anticipated features so far is the ability to access your computer via remote, though the Microsoft Authenticator. However, the bad news is this will only be available after the Windows 10 Mobile exits the beta phase. Also, this seems to be available only for enterprise users, for the meantime at least.
This piece of news about the Microsoft Authenticator was first announced by the Redmond, WA-based company in its blog last month.
Alex Simons, director of program management at Microsoft, shared that the new app will be available on Aug. 15. The new app will combine both the authenticators from Microsoft and Azure AD (which is only available for enterprise consumers).
Those who already own the Azure Authenticator will automatically get an upgrade. Meanwhile, those with Microsoft account will get a prompt when they can download the app and update their Android devices.
"We're just getting started on this new app! Now that we've finished consolidating into a single code base, we're expecting to deliver new improvements at a very rapid pace," he said.
