Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar to Address Molestation Scandal; Fallout on Megyn Kelly Show Tonight

The revelation that eldest son Josh Duggar admitted to molesting underage girls while he was a minor himself has rocked the '19 Kids and Counting' franchise and fan base. The fallout has been so far-reaching that some have suggested that there is a possiblility that it will impact the 2016 Presidential Election. And now, the Duggar family has decided to directly address the subject on a special interview with Megyn Kelly, scheduled to air tonight.

While rumors of Josh's behaviour have circulated the Internet for years in whispers on message boards, news that there was a substantial paper trail to prove the accusations surfaced for the first time on May 22 when a tabloid decided to go public with a detailed police report they had obtained.

Several of the TLC hit show's sponsors pulled their advertisements in the wake of Josh's admission and public apology. Josh Duggar has also resigned from his position at the Family Research Council, a lobbying firm.

Many reporting the details of the scandal have seemed to relish in the demise of the Duggar's squeaky clean image, blaming the Duggar's "repressive" and "fundamentalist" belief system (the Institute for Biblical Principals, the homeschooling movement and the Quiverfull movement itself are all targets for blame) as well as accusing Josh of being a psychological pedophile incapable of rehabilitation. In turn, Duggar supporters have been quick to compare Josh's actions with those of writer/actress Lena Dunham, who spoke about her own experiences exploring her sexuality as a child.

Megyn Kelly said, "This isn't going to be a cross-examination of a family. It's going to be an interview. I want to hear their story. And I think America wants to hear their story now. Nothing is off limits."

The Duggar's said on their official Facebook page, "We will sit down with Megyn Kelly on Fox News to share our hearts with you about the pain that we walked through as a family twelve years ago, the tears we all shed and the forgiveness that was given. A portion of the interview will air on The Kelly File tomorrow, June 3rd at 9 PM/ET. The full one-hour special will air on Friday, June 5th at 9 PM/ET."

Aspiring country singer Amy Duggar, Jim Bob and Michelle's niece (also known as "cousin Amy" to fans of the show) shared a message of support for her family on her Instagram, writing, "No matter what happens in life our prayers are heard. Pray for your enemies. Pray for people who judge you and mistreat you. Pray for God's will in every aspect of your life."

Michael Seewald, the father-in-law of Jim Bob and Michelle's daughter, Jessa Duggar Seewald, has written a widely shared blog that urges compassion for Josh as well as the unnamed victims of the ordeal.

Josh Duggar's siblings, including the show favorites, his sisters Jana, Jill, Jessa, Jinger and Joy-Anna, have yet to seem to want to address the topic, posting photos of each other to their social media accounts in recent days. Jessa, who is pregnant with her first child with husband Ben, continues to post pregnancy updates and photos of sister Jinger while Jill, who just gave birth to her son Israel with husband, Derick, posted a photo of herself with Jessa for her 1.4 million Instagram followers to see.

Jill and Derick's pastor, Ronnie Floyd, reminded People magazine that "Everyone does wrong, and what was wrong was very wrong as to what was testified to and it's completely unacceptable. But I'm thankful, whether it's him or any other one, that I serve a God who can forgive everything.''

Whether the questions asked tonight on the Kelly File will fuel the fire of criticism toward the family, or remind viewers of the power of forgiveness, remains to be seen.
