Michael Schumacher Condition Latest Update: F1 Legends Continues to Receive Support Through Recovery
Reports on the condition of seven-time F1 world champion have been scarce, as there has still been no official word released on the actual state of racing legend Michael Schumacher.
The two-time Laureus World Sportsman of the Year woke up from a six-moth coma after his terrible skiing accident in December 29, 2013. Schumi, as he is endearingly called, has since been moved from the hospital to their home in Lake Geneva in Switzerland, Master Herald reported.
Earlier this year, the Mirror reported that Schumacher tears up when he hears the voices of his wife and children.
An article in the Italian newspaper Corriere della Serra read "He cries when he hears his children, his wife, his dogs. In the silence of that room, a tear runs down his thin face at a known sound. There is life enclosed in a drop; there is strength of a man who is moved and that moves each of us," as written by Giorgio Terruzi.
He is still unable to speak, but has progressed to communicating with his eyes, according to reports.
Schumacher had to undergo surgery due to brain hemorrhage after his terrifying ski accident in the French Alps. He woke up from a six-month coma just last September.
One prognosis came out that it would take Schumacher some three years to recover and live a relatively normal life, but Crossmap reported that most doctors share the opinion that it would be difficult the calculate the possible progress of someone who endured such severe head trauma.
Fellow F1 drivers have expressed their support for the long road to recovery that Schumacher is facing. Roman Grosjean of Lotus tweeted a photo of Schumacher with the caption "It has been one year already"¦#KeepFightingMichael our thoughts are still with you and your family," which he sent exactly one year after the accident.
Daniil Kyvat of Red Bull, for his part, tweeted last January 2, "Michael Schumacher's birthday today..I think we all would like to wish him what he needs most right now- strong health, and quick recovery."
