Miami Heat NBA 2015 News, Rumors: Could Dwyane Wade Opt Out of Deal with Heat?

After the Miami Heat missed the playoffs this season for the first time since 2008, Dwyane Wade told reporters at the team's exit interview that he won't be opting out of his current deal to become a free agent in the offseason. But now, reports have surfaced claiming that that may no longer be the case.

As reported by Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, multiple sources have said that Wade and the Heat have a significant difference in what both parties believe the three-time champion should be paid for the next three seasons.

Wade opted out of the final two years of his contract last summer worth $41.6 million, and signed a cheaper deal as a way of helping the Heat sign more talent. He took a two year $31 million deal.

The Miami Herald report says that Wade is now open to considering other teams this offseason if the Heat does not raise its offer. He has until late June to decide if he will opt out of his deal that would pay him $16.1 million next season.

Wade averaged 21.5 points in 62 games this season, his highest per game average in three years. He also turns 34 years old in January, which would most likely make the next deal he signs, his last lucrative playing contract.

As noted by the report, the Heat wants to keep the player that's been with them for 12 years, but feel that giving him the raise he wants would reduce their flexibility to sign free agents in the summer of 2016 and 2017. On the flip side, Wade is curious how much his market value will be when the cap jumps from the $67 million it currently is to the projected $89 million.

According to associates, Wade might opt out this summer with the hopes of getting a lucrative three-year deal from the Heat. The Heat, for its part, reportedly prefers that he opt in for next season, then re-sign him after his deal ends.
