Miami Heat NBA 2015 News: Dwyane Wade & Lakers Have Mutual Interest

For a few weeks now, rumors have been swirling around the future of Dwyane Wade as a member of the Miami Heat, with reports saying the three-time champion's camp would welcome a contract averaging $20 million over the next three years, while the Heat expressing its desire for Wade to opt in for the remaining $16 million on his current deal.

And now, Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reports that the Los Angeles Lakers could be eyeing the veteran guard. "While many execs still see Wade/Heat as contract saber rattling, a Wade option will be the Lakers. Mutual interest, per league sources," Mannix recently tweeted.

Adding on another tweet, "Hard to see L.A. offering Wade a better chance to win than Miami, especially in the West. But it is L.A., and they do have money to burn."

According to a previous report by Ethan Skolnick of Bleacher Report, some Heat officials have hoped that Wade would take the approach Dirk Nowitzki and Tim Duncan took late in their careers by taking below-market, one -year deals. But when he took a pay cut in 2014-2015 (costing himself some $6 million), Wade made it clear he had the additional money brought about by the NBA's new TV deal in mind.

As noted by Skolnick's report, should the Heat sign Goran Dragic to the reported five-year $80 million deal, Wade would be the third highest paid Heat player in 2015-2016. And should center Hassan Whiteside keep his pace of development, Wade could fall into fourth or even fifth-highest paid player on the team in 2016-2017.

"I signed the deal the way I did for a reason, and the organization did it for a reason. It's my option. I'll decide when the time is right. Everyone knows I always try to do what's best for the organization, but I also have to do what's best for Dwyane Wade as well," Wade was quoted saying.
