'Metal Gear Solid' Movie News: MGS Film Takes Step Forward with New Writer

News about the development of the highly anticipated 'Metal Gear Solid' movie has revealed that things are looking forward with the casting of a new writer. However, franchise creator, Hideo Kojima's falling out with Konami still had fans speculating about its production.

It has been reported that British writer Jay Basu will pen the script for the live action adaptation, and Jordan Vogt-Roberts is set to direct.

"Basu was on the writing team for 2014's Monsters: Dark Continent and 2012's Fast Girls. Deadline also reports that Basu, a 'British writer', has been tapped by Universal Pictures to help re-launch some of the company's monster movie franchises, including Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Mummy," writes Gamespot.

There is no news on any actors attached to the project, although it was once stated that Kojima had a certain actor in mind for the role as Snake.

"Kojima said he was previously eyeing X-Men star Hugh Jackman for the role, but it was later decided to cast a unspecified newcomer instead," writes Gamespot.

As it stands, there is no release date for the project at the moment.
