'Metal Gear Solid 5' News, Rumors: Hideo Kojima Expected to Leave Konami After Game's Release
It was previously mentioned that Metal Gear founder Hideo Kojima will be ending his critically acclaimed series with the release of the newest title, 'Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain', but recent news suggest that he'll actually be leaving Konami as a whole.
Details haven't been released on the falling out between Kojima Productions and Konami, but it has been confirmed that the gaming company has giving Kojima and his team limited communications and power within the studio.
"Power struggles between Kojima Productions and Konami have convinced the publisher to make drastic changes, including amending the employee status of its Metal Gear team. Some senior staff at the studio, including Kojima, now essentially work as contractors, not permanent employees," writes Gamespot.
Kojima's 29 years with Konami will come to an end with the next game, however he still expresses his strong desire to create a great game for his fans.
Konami officials have refused to comment on the dispute but have released a detailed statement. It reads:
"Konami Digital Entertainment, including Mr. Kojima, will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products. Please look forward to future announcements. As we have already announced, we are shifting our production structure to a headquarters-controlled system, in order to establish a steadfast operating base capable of responding to the rapid market changes that surround our digital entertainment business. Konami Digital Entertainment (including Mr. Kojima), will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products. Please look forward to future announcements."
'Metal Gear Solid 5' still plans to ship this September.
