Meryl Streep & Hugh Grant News: First Look at the Cast of Upcoming ‘Florence Foster Jenkins’ Film

The production company Pathe has released a still from the upcoming movie, "Florence Foster Jenkins' starring Hugh Grant and Meryl Streep.

The photo shows the two actors as a couple, with Streep playing the role of Florence Foster Jenkins and Grant playing her partner St. Clair Bayfield.

The movie is based on a true story of a New York heiress and socialite who is known to have passionately pursued her dream of becoming an opera singer. Although, everyone around her seems to think that her voice quite doesn't cut for an opera singer, she's determined to make her dreams come true. Her partner, who also happens to be her manager, was an aristocratic English actor. Her husband tried his best to hide the truth that her voice sounded hilarious to others. Eventually, she plans to give a public performance at Carnegie Hall in 1944.

The movie is directed by Stephen Frears from a screenplay that was written by Nicholas Martin and the shooting currently happening in the U.K. The movie is being produced by Michael Kuhn for Qwerty Films and by Tracey Seaward in her seventh collaboration with Frears.

Also on the cast are Simon Helberg, Rebecca Ferguson and Nina Arianda. And the movie is executive produced by Pathe's Cameron McCracken, BBC Films' Christine Langan and Qwerty's Malcolm Ritchie, according to Variety.
