The previous season of Dancing With the Stars is officially over as a new season is approaching with new celebrity contestants. But fans rooting for the last DWTS winners, Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, can't help but think that maybe the two are finally together.

In the pro Ice skater's recent interview, Davis revealed that she and her former pro dancer partner on the show have been growing as friends continuously even after the season ended. "We obviously became incredibly close during the show and sort of coming away from that experience where we were no longer spending every day together, it was interesting to sort of to continue to grow our friendship in a different capacity," she recently told the Glamour magazine.

The winning celebrity also said that she loved Chmerkovskiy but apparently only as friends. "I absolutely love him, and he's an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship. Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer," she said.

Closer as friends may also mean closer to be a real couple, but in the case of Chmerkovskiy and Davis, it is still not happening apparently. Some reports are even pushing that Chmerkovskiy may be dating Australian dancer Peta Murgatroyd.

Several eyewitnesses have reportedly seen the two getting cozy and being romantically sweet with one another. "Peta is Max's girl. She couldn't care less about making things official or being called his girlfriend. She is so the opposite of clingy and is content to just spend time with him and be happy," a source told The Globe.

On that note, neither Chmerkovskiy nor Murgatroyd have responded to those rumors.
