‘Meizu Pro 5’ Release Date News, Rumors: New Meizu Smartphone Slated for Sept. 25 Launch?

It appears that Meizu Technology Co. Ltd. is working to separate its "MX" device lineup and, hence, is preparing a new series named "Meizu Pro 5" for release. In fact, the Chinese consumer electronics company recently introduced "Meizu MX4 Pro," a jumbo version of its flagship device MX 4.

According to IB Times, the company released its flagship Meizu MX5 in July. According to earlier reports, after the release, the company's "Pro" version of the flagship will be introduced as a new series in the form of "Meizu Pro 5" instead of "Meizu MX5 Pro." Meanwhile, latestt leaked images of the purported handset show a retail box with the Meizu logo on the side, alongside the device name embossed on the top.

As far as the specifications of Meizu PRO 5 are concerned, GSM Arena reported that apparently the device will be released as two variants. Under the hood, the device will be powered by either a Samsung Exynos 7420 chipset or MediaTek's Helio X20 with a unique deca-core processor. It is worth noting that the deca-core version was spotted in a benchmark testing site earlier.

Meanwhile, Meizu vice-president has supposedly stated that the company will not opt for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC for its Pro 5 lineup, since the processor is plagued with overheating issues.

In terms of memory specification, it is expected that the Meizu Pro 5 will come equipped with 32 GB of in-built storage space. The handset will boast a 5.5-inch display, supported by 1080p screen resolution. Moreover, the under the hood configurations of Meizu Pro 5 will be supported by either a 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM configuration. The device will come with a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera unit. However, no detail regarding the front-facing snapper is known at this point.

However, the Chinese tech giant has not yet confirmed the specifications so far.

In terms of pricing, the Meizu Pro 5 will reportedly cost nearly $470. The Pro 5 has been scheduled for Sept. 25 release.
