Mayweather vs Pacquiao Fight News 2015 Latest: Retailers Cashing in on Legendary May 2 Bout

The question of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao's May 2 bout being the biggest fight in the history of boxing will largely depend on the two types of performance the two legendary fighters brings with them when they step into the ring, but the question of the match being the biggest economic fight in the history of boxing has already seemingly been set in stone. And even those not involved with the fight are cashing in.

As reported by Reuters, sales of Pacquiao gear and effects have skyrocketed by as much as 10 times as the mega fight between two of this generation's best boxers looms closer. The demand for anything Mayweather-Pacquiao has been large that retailers are struggling to satisfy it.

"Many are buying because prices might rise further if Manny wins. So while the fight is still days away, they are already buying these items," Carole Lynn Yap-Tan was quoted saying. Yap-Tan, who has been selling Pacquaio items online for the past four years, notes that buyers are mostly from the United States, with some orders also coming in from Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

The Team Pacquiao store, owned by the boxer himself, has also seen a similar spike in sales, something that hasn't been experienced from the Filipino's previous fights.

"If we only had more stocks, we could report more sales," said Team Pacquiao sales representative Honey Gervacio.

On that note, everyone else appears to be cashing in on the fight as well. Street vendors in Divisoria, a Manila shopping district, have been selling lower-priced items by bulk to customers often buying items by the dozens.

Pacquiao has transcended boxing in his home country of the Philippines. Apart from what he calls his "day job," he is also a player-coach in the country's professional basketball league, a congressman, and a TV personality.
