'Mass Effect' Remastered: Remaster Is Possible, According To Electronic Arts Director

The latest updates on BioWare's "Mass Effect" remastered reveal that the updated game could happen soon, according to Electronic Arts Studios' executive vice president, Patrick Soderlund.

In his interview with Game Informer, Soderlund affirmed that the publisher was eyeing BioWare's "Mass Effect" series for a remaster. He said that what had changed was that there was proof in the market that people wanted it, probably more than when they had spoken.

According to Soderlund, he understood people want to see gameplay and he had just come back from a short vacation and he had played through the first three hours of the game. For him it was very playable and there was no alarm about the reason why there were not showing it.

At the moment, Soderlund revealed that they were focused on their big titles for October to December, before shifting to "Mass Effect." "You'll see a lot more very shortly," the game director said.

In 2015, Soderlund revealed that the studio had considered remastering old games, IGN reports. However, they had opted to work on a completely new IP rather than invest time with remasters, after they had weighed their investment resources.

"Mass Effect" is BioWare's science-fiction action role-playing third-person shooting video game series. The original trilogy follows soldier Commander Shepard whose quest to save the cosmos from mechanical villains called the Reapers and antagonist Saren Arterius. A sequel, which is set two years after the first game, features Shepard's battle with the alien race Collectors. The third part of the series centers on the war against the Reapers.
