'Mass Effect Andromeda' Release Date, News: Game To Feature Free-Form Exploration?

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is set to be geared on a more flexible game exploration, according to BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn.

In his interview with Game Spot at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016, Flynn said that they had had a couple of modest changes; however, there was nothing radical. He said that the emphasis was to move towards the free form exploration and to be grounded in the mechanics.

Flynn also mentioned that Electronic Arts had never been stronger, as they were using Frostbite, an engine that is familiar to a lot of Visceral and DICE developers.

According to Flynn, there was a lot of ambition with "Mass Effect: Andromeda," adding that people were nervous about it. He also said that fans were nervous, which he considered as the toughest thing for them to hear; thus, they were willing to press those concerns. For the BioWare general manager, many fans held the studio to a very high standard and the upcoming game title would mark the final say on it.

BioWare also released the latest "Mass Effect: Andromeda" at the E3 2016. As noted by NeoGAF user EatChildren, the new ship's name is Tempest and its size is small enough to land on different planets. Also, the Biotics have returned while Krogan, Salarians, and Asari are all present in Andromeda.

In terms of game play, the trailer revealed that the Ark's passengers remain during the journey and a female character is the first to wake up. It is further revealed that the Arks were above Earth, before leaving; this suggests that more than one Ark are present in the game. Aside from more detailed animations, as evidenced by the characters' facial features, the title also allows players to switch shoulders during battle.

BioWare's "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is assumed to be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows in March 2017.
