'Mass Effect 4' Release Date News, Rumors: Game Likely Launching 2016?

As of this point in time, fans are still left in the dark about the release date of the highly-anticipated 'Mass Effect 4' video game.

It has become clear from the lack of content released or news, it would be a long shot for the game to be seen this year, however, some farfetched rumors on the game being released in 2020 have surfaced which have no real bearing.

According to Load the Game,"The initial rumors began when a supposed 2020 release date was associated with Mass Effect 4 on Amazon France's website. I get that people are hungry for news regarding the upcoming Mass Effect game, but let's be serious - Amazon is a retailer, and nothing more."

"Since when is Amazon a reliable source for release dates for games that haven't even seen a gaming convention or any real press releases? If anything, I doubt even Bioware has a fixed release date for ME4, apart from an approximated time-frame set by EA, which is most likely sometime in 2016," writes Load the Game.

This rumor may have been stipulated by the gaming company's hands being filled by their latest release, 'Dragon Age: Inquisition', but there is no evidence that the development for 'Mass Effect 4' was or would have needed to be halted.

Although from Bioware's recent success with 'Dragon Age: Inquisition', it may be safe to believe their focus will be 100% in the release of 'Mass Effect 4'.

Fans eager for more news on the game will most likely have to wait for announcements or trailer releases in the coming GDC or E3, where most of this information ends up coming from.

EuroGamer provides a short plot synopsis on what we can expect in this games iteration:

"The story will focus on a fresh protagonist who won't be another version of Commander Shepard, BioWare has said, but while there will be no direct continuation of the Commander's story, nods to past adventures will be included."
