'Jessica Jones' Season 2 Confirmed On Netflix, To Include Backstories, Revelations [TRAILER]
After a strong first season, "Jessica Jones" is slated for a 13-episode season 2 run on Netflix. The second season will include backstories, including revelations about Kilgrave, reports Variety.
The renewal didn't come as a surprise because the series has always been a breath of fresh air for its unique plot and unpredictable episodes.
"Jessica Jones" also happens to be one of the few comic adaptations to feature a female lead
"There are just these wildly articulate insightful pieces being done about a feminist perspective, a political perspective, at a time where these subjects are getting some attention about women in Hollywood and women in the world, and how we're portrayed in the media," said executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg.
"It's my life goal to contribute something to the world that hopefully moves it in a positive direction."
Krysten Ritter stars as Jessica Jones, a superhuman whose superhero career was tragically ended by Kilgrave.
Jones rebuilds her life as a private investigator-- dealing with a mysterious case involving people with unusual abilities in New York City.
Jones is on the lookout for Kilgrave's return and is keen on protecting people.
The web television series is the second of the four Marvel and Netflix tie-ups which will feature characters in the comic giant's universe. "Daredevil" was the first.
Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who is featured in "Jessica Jones," is gearing up for his own series which will premiere this year.
