Marvel New Series News: Netflix Announces New Series Every Six Months

Netflix's head, Ted Sarando dropped some vital information on the Marvel series set to appear on the streaming service in the upcoming year.

At Netflix's Television Critics Association panel, he clarified the timeline for the upcoming shows and when they'll be premiering to IGN.

"I think ideally there will be a rhythm of about every six months you'll get a new season or a new series from the Defenders group," Sarando says. "And then they'll crossover into a combined [Defenders] season once we've launched the first season of each of the four characters."

While it was previously announced that fans would be receiving a second season of 'Daredevil,' it raised the question if the subsequent series would also be receiving multiple seasons, especially with the 'Defenders' mini-series launching.

"Some will selectively have multiple seasons as they come out of the gate," he responds. "So [there will] probably be two launches a year."

Sarandos was also asked about a possible Punisher series since Jon Bernthal has just been confirmed to portray the character in 'Daredevil.'

"It is possible for sure. That's the beauty of the Marvel universe." He also added, regarding all the Marvel characters in play on Netflix, "Any of them could spin out into films too."

It will most likely depend largely on how well the character is received in the upcoming season of 'Daredevil.' The studio still seems to have their hands full with adapting their currently announced characters.

"While Jessica Jones is now filming for its late 2015 debut and a showrunner has been announced for Luke Cage (along with Mike Colter starring as the title character, after his introduction in Jessica Jones), no specifics are known yet for the fourth series, Iron Fist, including a showrunner or star," writes IGN.
