Mark Wahlberg New Movie News: Actor to Produce Film Based on Boston Marathon Bombing
Mark Wahlberg's next undertaking has been announced to be a movie based on the Boston marathon bombing called, 'Patriots' Day.' He will be producing next to Scott Stuber, and Matt Chapman has penned the script.
20th Century Fox has reported working on their own film based on the tragedy called, 'Boston Strong,' however Wahlberg will be working with CBS.
'Patriots' Day' will be based on the personal account of police commissioner Ed Davis.
CBS released this press release:
"Commissioner Davis played an integral role in working with the FBI, Watertown Police Department, Boston Police Department, Massachusetts State Police and local first responders to track, identify and apprehend the suspected bombers. Their tactics included the use of sophisticated identity technology and giving the historic order to put the city of Boston under lockdown as they rushed to apprehend the suspects."
CBS Films president Terry Press added:
"There is nothing more compelling than a real story populated by real heroes. The team that we have assembled for this project is determined to give audiences a very personal look at what occurred during the days when the eyes of the world were on the city of Boston and how a group of contemporary patriots faced this crisis."
Wahlberg has likely taken on the film on behalf of his attachment to his home city.
There are currently no directors or actors attached, however it is suspected Wahlberg will take on the role as the lead.
