'Mario Kart 8' DLC 2 Pack Update News: New 'Animal Crossing' Characters, Vehicles, & Tracks Introduced in DLC Pack 2
Japanese multinational consumer electronics company Nintendo launched its second set of downloadable content for the hugely popular racing game, 'Mario Kart 8' on the Wii U console last Thursday. The latest DLC pack introduced eight new tracks, grouped into two cups, in addition to four vehicles and three characters.
The DLC 2 introduces characters such as the male and female villager from "Animal Crossing," Isabelle as well as Dry Bowser. In addition, the new vehicles added in the DLC pack include the Bone Rattler City Tripper, Streetle and P-Wing. New vehicle parts like Leaf Tires and the Paper Glider too have been introduced.
According to IB Times, the tracks of the Bell Cup have been named Big Blue, Koopa City/ Neo Bowser City, Ribbon Road as well as Super Bell Subway. On the other hand, the Crossing Cup tracks are dubbed Animal Crossing, Baby Park, Cheese Land and Wild Woods.
It is worth noting that the latest batch is the second in a series of DLC packs released for the racing game. Together, the two packs are available for $11.99. Each pack comes for $7.99. Launched in November 2014, the first batch introduced Cat Peach, Link and Tanooki Mario. Gamers who purchased both DLC packs were given multicolored Yoshis and Shy Guys.
The highly anticipated 'Mario Kart 8' was released on May 30, 2014. This racing game from Nintendo turned out to be the fastest selling game on Wii U console, achieving global sales of 1.2 million units in just 14 days. The launch of the game also augmented the sale of the console in May 2014 - it sold about 90 percent more than the units sold in May 2013.
Just a little over a month after the game's launch, over 870,000 copies of 'Mario Kart 8' were shipped to the U.S., where it turned out to be the best-selling game on a single platform.
