Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather News: Cramps Plague Filipino Boxer

Manny Pacquiao is set to get the biggest payday of his life when he faces Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. To win that fight though, he'll have to deal with an issue that's long been bothering him.

As reported by Kevin Iole for Yahoo Sports, Freddie Roach said that leg cramps continue to be an issue for the eight-division champion as he goes into training for the biggest fight of his career.

"There's no magic cure for it. We're doing all we can do. I've got the doctors working on it. There are some Filipino guys here who are massaging it for him. The cream cost $1,800 for a single bottle. I wasn't too happy about that," said Roach of the anti-inflammatory cream, which he also had tested by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

Apart from the expensive cream, the trainer along with strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune tweaked Pacquiao's cardio routine, specifically when it comes to running hills.

"We did change his running schedule because I don't like him running the hills six days a week," Roach admitted. "I've got him on the track a lot more now doing fast sprint-type workouts instead of hill workouts. I think it's better for the older fighters sometimes to stay away from the hills so much."

Adding, "When he was young, it was OK, but he's getting a little older and the wear and tear of going up that hill, which is all concrete, is really not good for his legs. On the days he spars, he goes [to run at] Pan Pacific Park, and on the other days, we go over to UCLA."

Outside of cramping issues, Roach did say that Pacquiao has been "spot on with everything," and has showed a ramped up intensity the trainer hasn't seen from his fighter in a while.

"This is such a massive fight and Manny wants to win so bad," said Roach.
