Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather News: Boxing Greats Weigh In - Give Predictions for Big Fight
One of the biggest boxing fights, and potentially the most profitable one ever, is only two months away. So naturally, with all that time until the big fight, media outlets everywhere are asking former boxing stars who they think will come out with the win.
Las Vegas odds have narrowed down significantly since the fight was announced, with Pacquiao bettors shifting the odds a bit, and similarly, even former boxing greats have mixed opinions on the possible outcome.
"It's a toss up because their styles are just that different," said former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, "Pacquiao, the only way he can win is he corners him off. If he corners him off, I think he will win. I don't think he can, but that's what makes the fight so interesting.
In a released video, two-time Holyfield victim, and former "baddest man on the planet" Mike Tyson expressed that if the Filipino were to have an advantage, he would have to take advantage of his work rate in the earlier rounds, adding that if Pacquaio is able to keep up his activity, he could be the first one to solve the Mayweather puzzle.
"After working with Freddie, I think he is going to be huge in the fight. I'm going for Manny," said current middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, who has faced both fighters before.
Another former middleweight champion weighed in, with "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler saying, "Whether Pacquiao loses in the first round, whether he knocks out Mayweather in the first round, it's still going to be the biggest fight in history. Mayweather, he's using his head, he's using his skills and strategy, and let's hope Pacquaio don't fall into his tricks," said the boxing great.
Another former world champion, Antonio Tarver also chimed in on the mega fight, "I'm not going to sit here and say this is not a dangerous fight for Floyd Mayweather. Everybody knows that this is a dangerous fight for Floyd, especially Floyd Mayweather," Tarver said in an interview with On The Ropes Boxing.
