Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Fight News: Bob Arum’s Silence Suggests Showdown May Be Imminent

Boxing fans across the world have been eagerly waiting for the super showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr for over five years now. However, their dreams have yet to become a reality, as both super stars have been avoiding the fight for one reason or another.

According to Christian Today, despite the clamor for the super fight between the two greatest professional boxing legends of this generation, the plans to put them in the ring never realized. However, fans can now expect some good news, as Top Rank CEO Bob Arum seemed to have given some hints regarding the much-anticipated fight on his 83rd birthday celebrations.

The website reports that usually Arum was tight-lipped on the topic throughout his birthday party on Monday. Guests present at the party too this as an indication that a fight between the Filipino boxing legend Pacquiao and American unbeaten boxer Mayweather may be imminent.

From Arum's silence gave rise to speculations that he has taken lessons from his earlier mistakes, as things he said in the past only spoiled the talks between the Pacquiao and Mayweather camps. Arum's silence may mean that he may possibly be working overtime to ensure that the two camps will soon strike a deal for an imminent fight.

Meanwhile, even Pacquiao's former foe and WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley recently said that he is eager to see the long-anticipated fight between the two greats of this generation.

Taling to ESPN recently, Bradley said, "Manny is definitely a big threat in the sport, still a top dog, and I think he will be a threat to Floyd Mayweather Jr. I honestly do."

Expressing his views on the ability of Pacquiao to defeat Mayweather Jr., the professional boxer said, "I think he can clip Mayweather. I think it's a 50-50 fight, and I think it should happen. We have to wait and see if they can put it together. I think it makes sense. I think the fight does over 3 million pay-per-view buys, and it's the fight that everybody wants to see, and I think it's great for boxing."

All said and done, the much-awaited fight between the two seems to be unlikely until Mayweather puts down his prospected side of the deal to meet Pacquiao in the ring.
