Malia Obama Instagram Photo News: First Daughter Posts Photo in Support of Pro Era?
Many were left alarmed after they saw President Obama's daughter post an interesting "selfie" on Instagram recently. Although it's not known where the photo came from, Malia Obama's photograph is now on several news websites, depicting her wearing a "Pro Era" t-shirt which many figured she supports.
For those that may not know, Pro Era, a.k.a Progressive Era, is an American hip hop collective from Brooklyn, New York.
The photograph seemed like one taken inside Malia's room. She is seen wearing a white t-shirt with print that reads "Pro Era" while she was tying her hair. It is still unknown whether she posted the photo herself or someone did it for her since it is widely known that President Obama's daughters aren't allowed to be on the social media until they are 17-years-old.
As Malia is only age 16, clearly the first daughter is still not allowed to be that much involved on social networking sites. Also, Obama's daughters are known to undergo a strict process with regards to people outside the White House. For instance, the contact lists in their phones had to be checked thoroughly for security purposes.
"I still am not a big believer in Facebook for young people ... particularly for them, because they're in the public eye," the first lady told Barbara Walters in a 2013 interview on '20/20'. "Some of its stuff they don't need to see and be a part of ... So we try to protect them from too much of the public voice," she added.
After the interesting post on Instagram emerged, Pro Era then shared the photo on their own Instagram account using Malia's photo to promote their products. The caption wrote: "Malia Obama rocking that classic Pro Era tee! | Make sure you get your official Pro Era gear from theproera.com!"
Pro Era otherwise known as Progressive Era was first formed in 2009 in Brooklyn. The group includes rappers and other musicians with their staff. According to one of their members, a representative for Joey Bada$$ stated that they received the photo from "a mutual friend of Malia and the pro era member," the representative told Gawker.
