'Mafia 3' Gameplay & Release Date News: 2K Games Releases Gameplay Trailer [VIDEO]

The cinematic trailer of the upcoming 'Mafia 3' game was released at the Gamescon 2015. While developer 2K Games did not offer much information regarding the game at the event, the new video clip provided plenty of details about the character, stoy and setting of the upcoming title.

According to Latin Post, earlier it was reported that the third iteration of the action-adventure video game will be set in 1960s post-Vietnam War New Orleans. Accordingly, the audience at Gamescom was treated to the beauty of the city in the gameplay trailer released on the event.

Kotaku states that it appears the developers did not spare any detail in recreating the city as well as the French Quarter in 1968 New Orleans. In fact, the music itself manifested the culture of the city, while muscle cars, which were popular during the era, and chase scenes provide further excitement to players.

The clip includes a scene showing a cop giving an interracial couple a hard time, which will transport players to the 1960s era when playing the upcoming 'Mafia 3' title.

In the video clip, viewers can see the lead character Lincoln Clay finding himself an adopted family with the black mob of the city just after his return from the Vietnam War. On the other hand, the rival Italian mob killed Clay's family and it left him bitter and determined to take revenge.

This storyline is the start of the gameplay where Clay is set to take over the rival mafia groups in the city with a view to avenge his family's death.

The mission will see Clay joining hands with other people from the city, three "lieutenants" will help him take down the other mobs and gain control of the city he calls home. One of these three lieutenants is Vitto Scaletta from the previous 'Mafia 2' title.

In the gameplay trailer, viewers can see an underground jazz bar, which is a cover for a drug den where Clay plots his target on taking over the city and its mobs.

While the action of the title may appear to be very direct to the point that the mission is to take down rival mobs. Hence, every action and decision made by the player will affect the game's storyline.

Game Rant reports that "player actions are very important and will help shape the experience gamers have in the game."

'Mafia 3' will be released in 2016, but the developer is yet to announce a precised date. The title will be available to the current generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony in addition to the desktop PC.
