'Mad Men' Returns For Season 7 Part II: AMC Releases Date for Upcoming Series Finale

In the long list of anticipated television series returns, AMC's 'Mad Men' sits among them. The network has just revealed that the final season will return on April 5th, and that it's projected to have seven episodes.

The creator of the series, Matthew Weiner expressed his thoughts and gratitude in a interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

"What an incredible journey this has been. We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us."

Weiner continued in adding his speculation on the finale.

"The road has been paved for a mixed review, no matter what. I do what I've always done on the show and rely on the people around me. The actors, the writers, and my wife all liked it, so that's all I can go on at this point. I hate to say this - obviously ending the entire series is significantly more pressure - but it's been that way every year. I never knew if the show was coming back for most of the series, so we treated every episode 13 like it was the end. It's very bittersweet and high-pressure."

The final season is going to kick off where the previous season left off. In the final episode viewers were left with a loss of a longtime character, and a tasteful but very unexpected song and dance number.

The show's official Twitter prompted the release date with a picture of Jon Hamm's Don Draper, followed with a caption, "End of an era."

"The critically acclaimed series put AMC on the map," stated network president Charlie Collier, "It is impossible to overstate the impact it has had on AMC, and I would argue, this era of television."

The show will take over the Sunday slot from AMC's popular series, 'The Walking Dead', once that concludes its mid-season return.
