'MacGyver' Reboot Movie Announced; New Leading Actor To Appear, Justin Harley Takes Specialist's Role?
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed on Friday that the company is working on a movie reboot and as well as a TV show (via CBS) for "MacGuyver."
The movie will be produced by Lee David Zlotoff and Neal Moritz. There may be a new leading actor as well to play the role of Angus MacGuyver. The last one to play Angus was Richard Dean Anderson who is now 66 years old.
According to Jessie Jane of What's A Geek, Justin Hartley might take on the role of the specialist from the Department of External Services. Hartley played the role of Green Arrow in "Smallville" and also played "Aquaman" for some non-successful project. Nothing is confirmed regarding this matter.
According to Variety, the announcement was made during Lionsgate's earnings call with analysts. After the market closed on Thursday, Lionsgate reported that they had lower earnings. They only managed to earn $40.7 million; which is only 27 cents a share. The figure is actually less than 50% compared to its third fiscal quarter last year.
Jennifer Lawrence's "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" and Vin Diesel's "The Last Witch Hunter" were Lionsgate's "big guns" but was not able to reach expectations. Mockingjay Part 2 got the lowest gross of all Hunger Games movies maybe because of the Paris attacks or because it was too close to the release date of "The Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Anyway, Lionsgate will try to get back up from a disappointing quarter. Will this MacGuyver project that they're working on give them great numbers in the future?
