MacBook Pro 2016 Release Date, Specs, Price Rumors: Apple Keeps Mum On Touch Screen Speculation; Launching In June?
The anticipation for the MacBook Pro 2016 is only growing as the expected June release date is drawing near. Meanwhile, the rumors keep on coming as Apple continues to stay mum amid all the cacophony.
Ryan Reith, IDC program director for mobile devices, told Forbes back in January that the iPad won't be a long-term strategy for Apple.
"I don't think the iPad as a category grows," he said. "The way that we tend to view the iPad Pro is that it's kind of a stopgap solution until they get a Mac line to the point of a touch screen and possibly detachable keyboard."
The analyst then added that touch screen for Apple computers, and maybe not necessarily on MacBook Pro 2016, "is inevitable."
"There's nothing from the supply chain or from Apple that supports that right now - I just think it's inevitable...I don't know if that's two years out or what," he said.
The MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to come in two versions: the 13-inch and the high-end 15-inch variety, which will carry a price tag of around $2,800. The smaller version will fetch around $1,500.
As to the specs, rumors going around have alleged that the MacBook Pro 2016 will feature retina and OLED displays. The device will reportedly get a battery backup that would last for nine hours. Other feature are Siri, Force Touch, external graphics support and USB-Type C.
So far, Apple has been silent on the rumors about the touch screen for the Macbook Pro 2016, nor is it very forthcoming about the release date.
Mobi Picker speculated that Apple will announce the release date for the MacBook Pro 2016 during the World Wide Developers Conference on June 13-17.
