MacBook Pro 2016 Release Date, Specs News, Rumors: A Keyless Keyboard Is Confirmed?

The rumors about MacBook Pro 2016 featuring a keyless keyboard have been going around for some time now.

But a new report seems to confirm this new feature.

Mashable reported about the Apple patent application that was only made public recently revealed a "force-sensitive input structure for an electronic device."

This is basically "a customizable, clean, flat surface that reacts to where you press."

If indeed the keyless keyboard will be introduced into the MacBook Pro 2016, users would be using technology that Apple describes as "zero-travel."

"There would be no keys or surfaces that move (at least not noticeably) when you press them. The surface would, however, sense the force of your fingers and return haptic feedback as you type," said Mashable.

Nevertheless, there's no confirmation that this would be part of the MacBook Pro 2016. It could be used for future iteration of the flagship device.

Meanwhile, with the forthcoming release date for the Macbook Pro 2016, Apple will probably drop the "Air" line of products, particularly since buyers nowadays are not putting more premium on the lightness of the laptop, but rather the specs and price.

"The launch of the iPad Pro 9.7" a few weeks ago was the last nail in the coffin for the 'Air' branding, it has exactly the same weight & dimensions as the Air 2, but Apple renamed it to the 'Pro,'" insider Jack March wrote.

"It's more likely that Apple will launch new MacBook Pro's that are thinner (at thickest point) and lighter than the current MacBook Air models," he said.

This means that the MacBook Pro 2016 is the Retina MacBook Air that has long been the subject of various rumors.
