MacBook Pro 2016 News Update: Markdowns Signal Release Date Imminent?

The rumors are all over regarding the MacBook Pro 2016, but with hardly a peep from Apple.

The most pervasive rumor was that the release date for the MacBook Pro 2016 was going to be at the Worldwide Developers Council (WWDC) in June, but that went by with no mention of the device.

Instead, Apple launched its new macOS Sierra and iOS 10, to the disappointment of some fans waiting for new gear.

Nevertheless, iTech Post suggested that Apple may still have a surprise up its sleeve when it comes to the MacBook Pro 2016. The article noted across-the-board markdowns on the price of the older generation MacBooks, and that's usually a good indication of a change in the landscape sooner than later.

Resellers have been offering at the maximum $290 off the price of the 13" and 15" MacBook Pros; and a maximum of $350 off the 12" MacBook Pro. These come with no sales tax and free shipping to boot. Apple Insider reports that this is supposed to be the lowest price that the devices have gone down since their launch, said the report.

MacWorld, meanwhile, suggested that the release date for the MacBook Pro 2016 would probably be in September, the same rumored for the iPhone 7, or in October this year.

It is also speculated that Apple's efforts to remove the older non-retina MacBook Pro from the public consciousness seem to point to an imminent release date for the MacBook Pro 2016. That's because the company can't afford to confuse the public with three different models, so the only way is to stop promoting the oldest of the three.
