MacBook Air Retina Release Date Rumors: Apple to Launch New Laptop & Apple Watch on March 9?

Since Apple has already started dispatching invitations for its "Spring Forward" event on March 9, it is expected that the Cupertino-based tech giant will utilize the event to launch its much anticipated MacBook Air Retina along with other devices.

According to Christian Today, while the Apple Watch will be the main attraction at the "Spring Forward" event, even the 12-inch MacBook Air with a Retina display will be in the limelight. Intel's latest Broadwell chip will power the new laptop. In addition, it is also rumored to be equipped with a USB 3.0 Type-C that will replace all ports in the device. The latest processor and port will yield to a slimmer profile and lighter mass.

According to rumors, the upcoming MacBook Air Retina will come with iPhone features, especially the TouchID fingerprint sensor and Apple Pay. Taiwanese website Apple.Club.tw reports that the Cupertino tech manufacturer will also extend its new payment feature in the Mac desktops and notebooks of the company.

In addition, the laptop's trackpad will incorporate the fingerprint sensor. The MacBook Air Retina is also reported to be available in a number of new color options - silver, space grey, and gold.

Meanwhile, the upcoming event will mainly focus on the Apple Watch. It may be recalled that when Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the Apple Watch alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014, he had assured that the smartwatch will be launched in spring next and will be shipped from April 2015 onward.

Some time back, Apple officially announced that the Apple Watch will come in three variants - Apple Watch, Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition - each priced differently. Users can also customize their smartwatch as they can choose from a number of straps. Users can also synchronize the Apple Watch with their iPhone, in addition to using the device for tracking their routine activities, fitness, and much more.
