MacBook Air Retina 2015 Release Date Rumors: Apple to Unveil New Laptop at WWDC in June?

Several reports had speculated that Apple would be releasing its updated MacBook Air in 2014, but none turned out to be true. Since then, the release date of the much awaited laptop has simply been a guessing game for all concerned. Latest reports, however, claim that the laptop will undergo a major update and may be unveiled at the company's Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC) scheduled for June.

PC Advisor says that the MacBook with Retina display is likely to be available to consumers on the day of its launch. Nevertheless, Apple may start shipping the laptop in June end or beginning of July in case of any exceptional problem such as any delay in receiving the supplies of Retina display or Intel's latest generation chipset.

Earlier, Digitimes, a Taiwanese news website, reported that currently the upcoming MacBook Air is in production and the Cupertino-based tech titan is augmenting the manufacture of the laptop. It has been reported that a Taiwan-based manufacturer Quanta Computer has recently hired a large number of people with a view to sustain with the demands as well as orders from Apple.

There are speculations that Apple may also slip the MacBook Air quietly in the market, something it did in 2014. For the uninitiated, in April 2014, Apple quietly launched an upgraded MacBook Air with an Intel Haswell processor. It is expected that the company may repeat the same thing with MacBook Air this year too. However, it largely depends on the nature of the upgrades as well new features that will be incorporated into the upcoming MacBook Air.

In terms of the specs and features of the MacBook Air with Retina, the upcoming device is supposed to come with a 12-inch screen display, something between the existing current 11-inch and 13-inch variants of the product line. In addition, it is also expected to pack Intel's Broadwell chip and USB 3.0 Type-C that does away with the fan and allows the body of the laptop to be thinner.

While Apple has yet disclose any details about the MacBook Air or announced the release date of the laptop, if the rumors turn to be true, an official announcement can be expected soon.
