MacBook Air Retina 2015 Release Date Rumors: Apple to Launch New Laptop in February, Apple iWatch to Follow
The competition in the notebook market has intensified further with the launch of several new laptops, including those powered with the most recent Intel Broadwell chipset, at the recently concluded 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. According to many, this has put Apple under pressure to remain in competition by introducing its latest notebook version - the purported MacBook Air featuring a 12-inch Retina display.
Taiwanese news source TechNews says that Apple will organize a rare press meet on Feb. 24 with a view to introduce the much-awaited MacBook Air. For long, there have been rumors that the upcoming MacBook Air will come with a 12-inch screen display that will be positioned between the existing 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models. It is also being speculated that the device will be powered by the Intel Broadwell chip and feature USB 3.0 Type-C, making the device fan-less and also much thinner.
Interestingly enough, another report in a different Taiwanese news source DigiTimes has also claimed that the Cupertino-headquartered tech giant will be introducing the device that has been greatly anticipated by Apple fans. The website reported that currently Apple is engaged in augmenting the production of the 12-inch laptop with a view to launch it some time during the first quarter of 2015.
According to reports, Quanta Computer, a Taiwan-based tech manufacturer, has been entrusted with the job of producing the 12-inch laptop. Reports also said that recently Quanta Computer went on a mass hiring spree presumably to keep pace with Apple's demands.
Apple Watch Release
Meanwhile, other reports say that Apple is also gearing up to launch its first wearable device - the Apple Watch, which was announced alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014. At that time, Apple had announced that the device would be released in "early 2015."
Mark Gurman of 9to5 Mac has said that the company will be shipping the Apple Watch will be shipped in March, while Apple would being training its employees in mid-February. The Apple Watch will come with a starting price tag of $349. However, Apple has yet to make any announcement in this regard yet.
