Lumia 1030 Release Date News, Rumors: Leaked Photos of Device Prototype Appear Online
New reports are claiming that photos have leaked from a Chinese auction site which suggest that Microsoft could be gearing to put out the highly-anticipated Lumia 1030 device in the near future, Daily Tech reported.
The images of a Windows Phone variant that appeared online came from a user from Taobao, a Chinese auction site. They were subsequently taken down before being re-uploaded to Baidu.
According to the specs, the supposed Lumia 1030 phone will have an aluminum casing with a plastic bottom, a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel screen, a 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory. There are not many details known about the cameras, though it will have a front camera and a large black rear camera with dual LED. The phone will also include a camera button and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The biggest clue as to why the phone could be the Lumia 1030 was because of the aluminum unibody that is reminiscent of the Lumia 930, according to Daily Tech. However, sources have claimed that the photos could just be the McLaren device that was cancelled earlier this year, or an actual Lumia 1030 prototype.
It was also reported that Toshiba will be responsible for manufacturing the Lumia 1030's sensors and that the phone will not have a mechanical shutter, according to a source that divulged details to Nokia Power User.
The camera flash will be a fourth generation short pulse LED to replace the Xenon flash. It was also rumored that the Lumia 1030 cameras will feature a high 50 mega-pixel count thanks to its large camera that will top even the Lumia 1020.
There was a chance that Microsoft will unveil their upcoming projects in January at the upcoming 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, according to Daily Tech. They may also confirm or deny the leaked images of the mysterious phone, which was given the codename RM-1052, and provide more details on the possible release of the Lumia 1030.
