'Lucifer' Season 2 Fall Finale Recap, Spoilers: Chloe Decker Is No Ordinary Human Being
The season 2 fall finale of "Lucifer" revealed that detective Chloe Decker was no ordinary human being.
The episode kicked off where episode 9 left off, with Charlotte ready to pull the trigger to a bomb planted beneath Chloe's car. However, just when she was about to pull it, her son Amenadiel showed up and told her that eliminating Chloe would only cause Lucifer to look for her killer.
Charlotte then decided to change her strategy and become Perry Smith's attorney instead. It can be recalled that he was the same man who took down the father of Chloe.
During the trial, Charlotte questioned her son who was the first to arrive at the scene of the crime. He told them it was Chloe, but reports claimed it was Detective Dan Espinoza. It turned out that Charlotte had slept with Dan and went through his phone so she could get the information.
It was later on revealed that the key witness of the prosecution, the man who was paid to kill John, was dead.
Charlotte offered Chloe a deal to show Lucifer that she was not worth his affection. The deal was this: She would publicly profess that her partner was a liar, in exchange of her client facing charges that would not amount to a death penalty. At the end of the day, Chloe did not take the deal and even confessed that her partner was the best she has ever had.
Elsewhere in the episode, Lucifer, Dan and Maze tried to search for the person behind the decapitating of Boris but failed.
Towards the end, Perry Smith was able to walk free, while Dan, guilty about Charlotte getting information that Chloe first arrived at the scene of the crime, led a Russian gang to Smith. They were not happy that he killed Boris, who was actually one of their members.
The episode left two cliffhangers. The first cliffhanger was Lucifer finally having a date with Chloe and Lux, while the second was Amenadiel recognizing Penelope, Chloe's mother. Towards the end of the episode, he told Charlotte that 35 years ago, God asked him to come down to earth to bless a couple that could not have a child. It turned out that the couple was John and his wife, and the miracle child was Chloe. This revelation only goes to show that it was God's intent to put Chloe on the path of Lucifer, and that Amenadiel was just a pawn in his grand plan.
"Lucifer" season 3 returns on January 16, 2017 on FOX.
