'Lucha Underground' Season 2 Welcomes Rey Mysterio
Lucha Underground is back for Season 2! The El Rey Network's wrestling spectacle will have another go as it returns in January, 2016. Rey Mysterio will join the show created by Emmy Award-winning Mark Burnett of Survivor, and Dusk Till Dawn's Robert Rodriguez.
The show recently released its season 2 trailer. The trailer now includes Rey Mysterio (shown at the end of the clip). It's definitely something to be excited about for the fans of the world of Lucha Libre.
In an interview with Wrestlezone via MSTARZ, Rey Mysterio said that his dream is really to make it to CMLL, not WCW or WWE.
"I never dreamed of going to WWE or WCW, my dream was always making it to CMLL because AAA didn't exist back then. And then, next thing you know AAA started, the opportunity came," Mysterio said.
Mysterio would fit right in the style of quick pace, high-flying and acrobatic style of lucha libre compared to the heavy lifting and beefed up style of the traditional American professional wrestling. Mysterio was blessed to win titles in that stage but taking away the money and the main stream hype, we all know where he truly belongs.
"My base was always high-flying. I always wanted to get the opportunity to show the world what I can do. So there was no other company out there that was displaying that but Lucha Underground. When I saw the first season, I was blown away," Mysterio added.
Lucha Underground Season 2 will premiere Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 8 p.m., only on the El Rey Network.
